World War 1 Map Of Alliances
history homework!! help pleaseeee! its on world war 1?
Theres a map of Europe and it says to answer the following questions…
1. If the Triple Alliance attacked France, how could Russia’s friendship help France?
2. If Austria-Hungary attacked Russia, how could France’s friendship help Russia?
3. If Russia attacked Germany, how could Austria’s friendship help Germany?
and then later on theres this question too …
Looking back on what you have read about the rulers of great britain, germany and russia, is there anything there which makes you surprised that Germany was in an alliance opposed to Britain and Russia?

The Triple-Alliance was in the middle with France on one side and Russia on the other (west & east) therefore if France was attacked in the West then Russia could attacker Germany from the East and if Austria-Hungary attacked Russia in the East then Western France could attack, through Germany, against Austria-Hungary. If Russia attacked Germany, up North, then the more southerly Austrian-Hungary could atacked Russia through the occupied lands of Poland..
World War One was the result of entangled often conflicting alliances. That said it is surprising or at the least stupid that Germany placed itself in opposition to Britain. It more of a stupid rivalry than a practical way to do business. In all matter Wolrd War One was an example of the Failure of Diplomacy which is the basis for all wars. As for Germany being opposed to Russia that was a result of fear, the sheer fear of how big Russia was/is – - in land mass and resources and population…
